Petite Sweets

Recently I got the chance to check out Petite Sweets in the River Oaks area and I literally felt like a kid in a candy store.  The place is small but super cute.  There are a few tables inside and a few tables line the outside of the establishment so that you can enjoy this fine Houston weather that's been showing off lately.  You know I love interior design and this place is sleek and simple with white decor and dark brown wooden floors (that really caught my eye).  Anyway getting back to the important part here....ya'll know ICE CREAM is my weakness soooo when Vanessa asked me to join her for an ice cream filled donut sandwich...I could not say no (I was literally clapping my hands when I said that LOL).

We went on a Sunday afternoon at about 1pm and the place was relatively quiet with just a few customers.  We were greeted by two very friendly employees that gave us plenty of samples of ice cream and answered all these questions we had about the ice cream sandwich.  So apparently people can choose different things like cookies or brownies to create sandwiches.  I am an ice cream aficionado I tell ya...and the ice cream here is not only delicious but it is made locally by Lee's Creamery.  I sampled various flavors including one with goat cheese that was amazing but I ended up choosing the one with glitter and it was purple...and it was insanely delicious (AND IT HAD GLITTER).  I got mermaid sprinkles on my donut sandwich and Vanessa got the galaxy sprinkles on hers.  It was amazing...warm donut bread with sugar and sprinkles mixed with ice cream...like what's not to love?  It was delicious and everything I expected it to be but I can say that it was very messy... so don't you dare order this on a first date or anything like that (just be a simpleton and order a little cup of ice cream and you can thank me later lol).  I cannot wait to go back and try the macarons, the cakes, and just the simple ice cream cone because I feel that is the best way to savor the actual flavor of it.  Moderation is key and although I wish I could go everyday... but I have decided to pace myself and go back every few weeks :)

Be sure to check out Mr. Lee's other fine establishments...I guarantee you will want to add these places to your Houston Bucket List and it will help support local businesses!

Empty Bowls Houston - Whole Foods Market

Everyone kept asking where I was last night and why I was painting eyes on cute little bowls...well here is a little more info on the fun event I attended on May 10, 2017 at Whole Foods Market on Waugh.

The Houston Food Bank and Whole Foods Montrose hosted a really fun event in Houston yesterday and my sister and I had the pleasure of attending!  It was an event with light bites provided by Whole Foods and Buffalo Bayou Brewing Company provided samples of some very delicious beers.  Mad Potter was there to provide the ceramic bowls and paints for us to paint hence the hashtag #brewsforbowls that we all used for this event.

This fabulous event was really important to create community and bring us all together to support Empty Bowls Houston "which is a grassroots effort by artists, skilled crafters, students and teachers dedicated to alleviating hunger in the greater Houston area".

The 13th Annual Empty Bowls Houston will be

Saturday June 3, 2017 from 11am-3pm

at the Houston Center for Contemporary Craft 4848 Main Street Houston, Texas 77002

For a minimum donation of $25, attendees have the pleasure of selecting a bowl from hundreds of one of a kind hand crafted bowls donated by the Houston area ceramists, then receive a simple lunch of soup donated by Whole Foods Market and freshly prepared by Houston Food Bank Community Kitchen.  Pottery and woodturning demonstrations and live music will be featured that day as well.

The empty bowls serve to remind us of of all the empty bowls in our community and around the world.  It is such a neat idea and I'm really excited to have been a part of this.  I gave my bowl a very Leyla Moon twist to it and decorated it with some really eye catching eyes! A very special shoutout to Whole Foods Market for hosting such a fun event with some really amazing people...honestly can't wait for the next one!

Flashback Friday with Michelle

FBF with lovely Michelle.

I randomly found her on Instagram and loved her face :) so I slid into her DMs and we made magic on a beautiful sunny day.  Here are a few of my favorite shots from this photo sesh.

Happy Friday to all.

Philosophy

I'm kind of obsessed with Philosophy skin care products these days.  As I've gotten older, I think my skin is changing quite a bit and I definitely have to be more careful about sun exposure.  The biggest thing about good skin care is hydration....water water water.  I drink a lot of water and I think that is the single most important thing that you can do for your skin.  So anyway people always ask me about skin care products or what I use... so now that I have finally developed a good skin care routine, I'll share some of my favorite products with you!

Miracle Worker

  • Anti Aging Moisturizer.  I usually use Hope in a Jar, but I wanted to try something different.  I love that it is loaded with Vitamin C and so I think that was the selling point for me.  I love that it isn't greasy and it isn't a heavy moisturizer.  You can apply it overnight or under your makeup in the day.  I haven't used it long enough to see any big changes, but my skin looks youthful so I will probably continue buying it.

No Reason To Hide

  • Facial Serum.  I love this because it is extremely lightweight and it hides imperfections.  My face can sometimes look red or blotchy after sun exposure, so this product really helps my skin look radiant.  It doesn't take much to cover your skin and it absorbs quickly.  I apply it twice a day.

Purity

  • Daily Facewash.  I love it and a little pea size drop goes a really long way.  It removes foundation makeup and eye makeup extremely well.  I use it daily but I change it up about 2 times a week & I use it with my Clarisonic to remove dirt and oil and clean out my pores.  I also use it to clean my makeup brushes every 2 weeks.
