Syncing Ink (Feb 3 - March 5)

The Alley Theatre invited me to the opening show of Syncing Ink a few weeks ago.  It was during the weekend of Super Bowl madness, and because I'm such a theatre fan, I decided to sneak away from Super Bowl festivities and enjoy a fun evening of hip-hop theatre.  For those of you that haven't been to the Alley in a while, it is completely renovated and back in business at its regular location.  It is one of my favorite venues for the performing arts, because no matter what seats you choose, you always have an amazing view of the stage.

I managed to arrive on time despite all the Super Bowl traffic and I took a seat in the Neuhaus Theatre which was a smaller room, in a very intimate setting.  The actors were very up, close and personal!  I love venues like this, because this gave me a better appreciation and understanding for their dramatic acting and their passion for rhyme.

Playwright NSangou Njikam takes us through a lyrical ride between the love of hip hop and education.  Syncing Ink takes you on a journey that follows Gordon the main character, and how he finds his voice and his rhyme but most of all his passion for freestyle.  If you are a hip hop lover, I assure you that you don't want to miss this show.  Come out and support the arts and support hip hop theatre in Houston!  Be sure to visit the Alley Theatre's website for details on times and tickets.
